Pectin is an edible polysaccharide mainly formed by residues of galacturonic acid. Pectin is used in the food-processing industry as an organic thickener. For example, it is used in production of marmalade and ice cream.

The team consists of scientists and engineers.

Our project started in 2012, when we worked on the environmental problem of industrial water treatment, and used the pharmaceutical best practices: we found special reagents that can encase foreign substances in the superfine sheath, and dissolve after use without residue and harm.

They are called microgels, their molecules are invisible to the eye, but they function very efficiently. We managed to synthesize a new form of polysaccharide, which we called biomicrogels® – naturally occurring gel particles, the size of which ranges from 100 to 1,000 nanometers.

Pectin is used as a raw material for production of biomicrogels®; it is produced from pomace, wood bark, sunflower calathids, and cellulose.

Biomicrogels® in compositions allow reducing several times the amount of surfactants (surface active substances), and fully eliminating synthetic surfactants, as well as toxic alcohols, phosphates, chlorine: it allows for making products completely safe for people, animals and the environment.
